Old Fields Construction, LLC is headed by the father-and-son team of Ed and Chris Shearin. Both North Carolina natives, they bring a rare combination of Old World craftsmanship and modern commercial techniques to home building. Ed Shearin is a Vietnam veteran, proudly serving as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army. During the past two decades, he has specialized in creating some of the most remarkable handcrafted furniture in the Southeast, as well as putting his distinctive mark on residential and commercial construction projects throughout the region. His experience, combined with a degree in business from Troy State University and a degree in safety from the University of Southern California, makes him one of the most well rounded professionals in construction today.
Ed’s son, Chris, grew up in Fayetteville. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and construction from North Carolina State University, he worked as a construction superintendent for many years before forming Old Fields Construction with his father. In that time, the company’s residential and commercial work has covered a five-state area. He is a member of the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville and the contractor for Miyabi Japanese Steakhouse and Kyoto Express restaurants throughout the region. Old Fields Construction has been selected as the exclusive builder of 70 homes in Appleton, and will also build executive homes in The Hamptons.
Elmwood Partners was formed in 2000, joining the strength of the construction firms of Bradford Builders and Ralph Huff Developments, and bringing new concepts to the local home design and building industries. Combining more than thirty years of being among the most respected builders in the Fayetteville area, Tommy Bradford and Ralph Huff immediately took Elmwood Partners to the forefront of the region’s top constructors. A Fayetteville native who was educated at North Carolina State University, Tommy got his start in construction over 20 years ago, building residential, commercial, and office buildings. His work includes building everything from town homes to $1 million-plus custom-designed homes. He has also developed entire neighborhoods and office complex projects.
Tommy’s partner Ralph Huff put up his first house in 1990 and hasn’t let up, building more than 800 homes and developing more than twenty neighborhoods. He is also the president of H&H Constructors and a partner in HPS Real Estate, the largest real estate company in the region. A testimony to his leadership and excellence in home building, he was recently elected as president of the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville. After all these accomplishments, why is he still rolling up his sleeves at the beginning of the day? “The thing that is exciting about this business is you are able to create - I like creating houses.” Elmwood Partners are taking this wealth of experience to new creations, building about 80 cluster homes in Notting Hill Park and executive homes in The Hamptons.
